Each night after a long day shooting I couldn't resist a rummage around the temple street Markets and bustling Mongkok, you can go for dinner at 2am and that totally OK.! The city never sleeps and is certainly one of the safest places i have ever been.
As i was hauled into this unfamiliar world of haggling i found my self with a gargantuan painting of a geisha girl, magnets, postcards, handbags, sneakers and a boom box! ...Oh dear!
Oh and then theres the food! but when in rome.... :D
I couldn't tell you what any of it was, cat? dog? ...who knows it was like a blind date with my mouth everyday.
On my final day i took a magical excursion over to Tian Tan Buddha on Lantau Island I caught the MTR over to Ngong Ping and i must say i was very tempted by the prospects of the previous stop DISNEYLAND!
Tempting as it was i didn't think mickeymouse was a great Insight into the Buddhist roots of China.
I caught the exhilarating cable car through the giant broccoli like mountains....and the views where delicious!
We walked the 237 steps to see the Buddha in hope to see all the way out to Macau but as you can see it wasn't the clearest of days!
The atmosphere was very surreal and the masses of venerating chinese and internationals was quite overwhelming.
We took the wisdom path to the vibrant po lin monastery.
We got off the beaten track and caught a rickety rackety old bus out to the quaintest little fishing village.
To experience the poverty here yet the happiness these people ooze, brings a person crashing back down to earth...this was one of the best (most unplanned) expeditions of my life.
That evening we went to the Peak for the best views the city has to offer, sipped some singapore slings and had a luscious chinese massage...what a way to end my trip!
I love you HongKong!
Great photos, would love to visit HongKong someday. Reminds me of tokyo in a lot of ways.
